چکیده
Abstract Numerical simulations of reactive transport in fractured porous media require the solution coupled physical and chemical processes that depend on fractures. Such are described by a system nonlinear partial differential-algebraic equations, while strong heterogeneities characterise This paper presents an approach to simulate single-phase flow non-isothermal with mineral dissolution precipitation media. Our numerical strategy is based two ingredients. First, model equations consist differential for fluid flow, heat transfer solute algebraic representing reactions. Second, fractures explicitly represented treated as lower-dimensional objects. The discretised using finite-volume methods, at each time step, we solve Newton’s method. With simulations, illustrate our model’s ability accurately describe two-way interaction between multi-physical two- three-dimensional intersecting

Hybrid models of reactive transport in porous and fractured media
Darcy-scale models of flow and transport in porous media often fail to describe experimentally observed phenomena, while their pore-scale counterparts are accurate but can be computationally prohibitive. Most numerical multiscale models, which seek to combine these two descriptions, require empirical closures and/or assumptions about the behavior of pore-scale quantities at the continuum (Darcy...
متن کاملPore scale simulation of solute transport in fractured porous media
[1] We investigate the effects of the porosity (and thus permeability) of porous matrix and the fracture aperture on transport in fractured porous media. We do so with detailed lattice Boltzmann simulations on constructed porous media with a single fracture. Both plume spatial moments (the average plume velocity and the dispersion coefficients) and mass transfer coefficients between the facture...
متن کاملModelling flow and solute transport in fractured porous media
A BEM numerical model is presented for the flow and solute transport in fractured porous media, which is based on the dual reciprocity method multi domain scheme (DRM-MD). The model solves the 3D flow equation based on the Darcy law in the coupled system of porous media, fracture network and fracture intersections. Unlike the discrete fracture models, which for simplicity use Fick's law in the ...
متن کاملLarge-scale Mass Transport Modelling in Discretely- Fractured Porous Media
A numerical model has been developed for the large-scale simulation of solute transport in discretelyfractured porous media. A generic finite elements code, MEF++, has been used to account for simultaneous flow and transport in 2D fracture and 3D porous medium elements. Equations for the fractures and the porous medium are solve separately but are coupled with a mass transfer term. This mass tr...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of non-isothermal multiphase tracer transport in heterogeneous fractured porous media
We have developed a new numerical method for modeling tracer and radionuclide transport through heterogeneous fractured rocks in a non-isothermal multiphase system. The model formulation incorporates a full hydrodynamic dispersion tensor, based on three-dimensional velocity ®elds with a regular or irregular grid in a heterogeneous geological medium. Two dierent weighting schemes are proposed f...
